We often receive inquiries asking, "Who currently supplies watches to the UK military?" Over the past decade, the main suppliers have consistently been Citizen, Pulsar, and Seiko. However, in 2023, we were reliably informed that MWC is now the current supplier of G10 watches to the British Army. MWC's G10 100m / 330ft water-resistant model, which carries NATO Stock Number: NSN 6645-99-472-3228, has replaced previous models as confirmed by the Freedom of infomation request link below - MoD FOI Request 2024 . This watch, featuring a sapphire crystal and a 10-year battery life, is a significant upgrade in terms of durability and performance when compared to the Pulsar/Seiko PXD433, which was the former issue.
Although sources in the British military confirm that some Pulsar watches, last issued in 2016, and a few CWC watches, last purchased in 2006, are still in use, the number of MWC watches with product code G10/100UKG and the NATO stock number mentioned above has grown significantly. It seems likely that the impressive 10-year battery life played a key role in MWC securing the contract. You can view this model https://mwcwatches.com/products/mwc-g10-100m-1000ft-water-resistant-stainless-steel-military-watch-with-sapphire-crystal?_pos=1&_sid=d2c85a12e&_ss=r as for the watches supplied to the Royal Navy and the RAF, we assume that Citizen, Pulsar, and Seiko remain the primary providers but the document at the link MoD FOI Request 2024 confirms CWC still supply their PVD Dive watch for elite units such as the SBS . However, it's worth noting that two MWC dive watches have been codified with NATO Stock Numbers (NSN). Unfortunately, MWC has not been particularly forthcoming as to why these two shown below required codification see https://mwcwatches.com/search?q=nsn+div2001
The MoD we are aware secured quite large number of the Pulsar YM92 X170 for issue to RAF aircrew over an extended period and this watch has been issued for 15 years so it's clear this model has worked well for the MoD in the role in which it's employed hence it seems likely it will remain in service for the foreseeable future.
