This website aims to provide insight into some of the most common watches used by the military, special forces, police, and security forces.
The watches featured here are models you're likely to encounter, but we’ve only scratched the surface based on our knowledge as collectors. The range of military watches worldwide is vast, making it difficult to cover everything. For example, during a visit to South Africa, I discovered a Rhodesian Roamer W10 from the 1970s—a watch I knew nothing about until that moment.
If you’re interested in starting a collection, I highly recommend Ziggy Wesolowski’s excellent book, which you can find through this https://www.crowood.com/products/concise-guide-to-military-timepieces-by-zygmunt-wesolowski the book contains comprehensive information on well-known manufacturers, including Omega, Rolex, IWC, CWC, MWC, Smith, Breitling, and many others. In my view, this is currently the best guide available on military watches, and until a more updated resource is published, it remains the go-to reference for collectors.
In our opinion, this is an excellent book that provides a broad overview of military timepieces from 1880 to 1990. It offers concise descriptions and clear photographs of specific watches. While it doesn’t cover every military timepiece and the text could be more detailed, I would still recommend it to anyone with an interest in collecting military watches.
